Project 365 Day 56 Glow

It was my last day in Hampi,  was siitting in Mango Tree, the cafe watching the River Tunga flow as the sun big adieu. Within a few minutes, we were engulfed in darkness with nothing but the glow to keep us company. Was truly a wonderful moment, simply soaking in the nature, and unwinding, letting the mind play back the wonderful memories gathered during the brief stay in Hampi....

I knew i will be back!! I hope to visit... soon

Project 365 Day 54 High

A row of Pillars in Pondicherry guarding the Gandhi Statue shot as the sun was going down into the ocean....

Tall and confident, these pillars remind me of me- when i am sure of myself, when i know what i am doing, i stand tall, and straight..!!

Project 365 Day 53 Howdy

This little guy was having a whale of a time in the pond with no other tortoise fighting for space... Swimming around in the company of a few fish, he was soaking it in, and enjoying all the attention.

While in Kerala, we had visited the Krishnapuram Palace in Kayamkulam District where we spotted this loner.... The palace was beautiful, and is said to be a replica of the Padmanabapuram Palace in Trivandrum..

Project 365 Day 52 Blink

As we drove along the road, in a flash i caught sight of this boat as it came around a corner.. before i knew it, we were past that road, and the boat was nowhere in sight... Made me wonder- do we zip through life that fast? Dont we ever pause to catch our breath or take in the sights around us??

Was playing around with my camera and this object few days ago.. any guesses on what this is??

It glows upon touch,
it glows throughout
It dims not untill you stop

It is heavy
but not really
It is light
but not really

It is a gadget
I assure you
It is .....................

Project 365 Skywatch Friday Day 50 Under the Sky

After the exhilarating boat ride on the Pulicat Lake, we went over to visit the Fort & Cemetery, or rather the ruins...

The Dutch Cemetery in Pulicat dates back to the 16th century, and today stands as it was back then. Situated amidst a market place, near where the Fort is said to have been, the Cemetery was built between 1606 and 1690 housing nearly 76 tombs and an underground secret passage that led to the fort ..  The tomb stones with inscriptions in Dutch were apparently carved in Holland and brought to India..

The tombs looked like the Coins on a chess board, some tall, some short and scattered all over the compound...

Project 365 Day 49 Deep

The brown in these flowers seemed to stare at me as if to make me question myself.  The yellow was the calm and peace that i felt within at times.. These were the flowers in Botanical Garden in Ooty, the beautiful hillstation in Nilgiris [blue mountains]

Though i was there on work, i did manage to sneak out some time, walk along the cobbled streets, watch the buzz of people going to and returning from various tourist spots and their offices... It sure was a wonderful way to enjoy the cool breeze!!

Project 365 Day 48 Bugsy

This was just before our Hoysala Tour...

Project 365 Day 45 White

Since it was the day of the Supermoon, i too armed with my camera went up to our terrace and waited patiently for the clouds to part and the big white ball to come in my view.. Max zoom was set on my camera, and i was all set for the grand appearance...

Few mins later Mom called asking if i saw the moon.. Answered in affirmative.. she then exclaimed -it was bigger than normal, brighter than usual and ovalish as against the round shape... I went back outside to see the Supermoon, shook my head as i dint notice any of what she mentioned, but it did seem as if the moon was closer than usual and got back inside before gramma began scolding me for being out when i was unwell :)

Am just hoping there are no more disasters or pain to the people of the world.

Skywatch Friday Project 365 Day 44 Guide

The lighthouse in the Marina beach stands tall, guiding fishermen and those out at sea. The light reaches far beyond our vision... I took this pic on my phone few weeks back..

Wonder if we also have a guiding light giving us directions and making sure we follow the right path... wonder who that is or where that is...

Project 365 Day 43 Majestic

Hotel Dasaprakash, one of the landmarks in Chennai .. Wonder how much longer we will see this building on PH Road... It has been shut, but the memories that families have from here will never perish.. Grandparents and uncles keep reminiscing of the bread+peas masala, the ice creams at the cold bar and the days when entire family drove down for a breakfast here...

Yet another landmark goes down in this city.. sigh....

Project 365 day 41 Bricks

inally, last sunday, bunch of us Blogger buds- Gils, Ratzzz and G3 decided to meet and the venue was - Semmozhi poonga!! I threatened the others to not bail out, inspite of which one did.. :( Anyways, i did enjoy visiting, spending a few hours wandering about the vast space, the beautiful landscaping, the amphitheater or sorts, watching ducks swim about in the ponds, the fountains that seem to be reaching for the sky and the sprinklers that drenched us around every corner...

This is a structure on one path, bricks stacked up, acting as arches while we walk beneath... Almost like the love of our family and friends, protecting us but giving us room to make mistakes and learn on our own..

Project 365 Day 40 Pillars

A model of a house, as it is in smaller towns and villages even today can be seen at Dakshin Chitra, off ECR road, Chennai... These blue pillars and the small door were found in literally all the houses and infact even today is seen.. Do you see the small window? women apparently wouldnt step out, but see through these to the outside world....

My 2011 started with Celebrations here, and that is when i captured this shot as well

Project 365 Day 39 Bloom

After a brief gap, i was now back on track.. Had decided to make atleast a piece a week, and last week i conquered the what seemed to be complicated Rose... :-)

Origami has taken me by surprise. Had always found myself with 2 left thumbs when it came to anything creative, aside from cooking, candle making and of course my favorite Gift wrapping..  And so, on that day, when i watched Subash make the simple lily, i knew i was hooked.. Bought paper, friend gifted me a book, another friend sent me a Pdf version and i was addicted to in love with this this art form.

Project 365 Day 38 Days gone by

Across the road from the ocean all we saw was a towering wall and a board that read -Dutch Cemetry and Fort which was the sign we had been looking for.  A fortress town located on the Coromandel Coast in Kanchipuram District, about 70 km from Chennai on the ECR  is Sadras , also known as Sadurangapattinam, and we were standing at the gates [which were shut] of the Sadras Fort.

It was a blazing hot day and i was dead tired, we had been on the road all day and had just returned from a visit to Kanchipuram and few other places . The gates were all we could see through the locked gates, so i guess another visit is due....

Project 365 Day 37 Where it all begins

The Tall brick building greets me bright and alive no matter what time of the day/night it is. Gosh, i've lost track of the number of journeys that began and ended here, the amount of fun we've had waiting for the train, and the days when i used to have my head literally pressed on the window to catch sight of my uncle who'd have come to pick us up... Lovely memories indeed..

Sure hope there are many more fun adventures in store for me and all of you... Time to get packing, what say?

Project 365 Day 36 Hidden Treasure

I've seen this church during the drive to Central station and around that area, but had never bothered to read up on it. Few weeks ago, during an event, i saw a picture of St Andrew;s church [kirk] on the wall and immediately asked my cousin and did some digging on the net as well..

What a hidden treasure this is... The next time i drove by, i paused to click a picture of this place... Beautiful... need to make a visit to explore the grounds and the church...

Info about the church from the net:
St.Andrew's Church, more popularly referred to as 'Kirk' is situated across the Gandhi Irwin Road, Egmore, Chennai. The church has a 200-year old history behind it. It is one of the oldest 'living churches' in the world. The church was specially built for the Scottish community serving in the East India Company at that time. The façade resembles St Martin-in-the-Fields in London.

Project 365 Day 35 Quack Quack

There are a few ponds near the fountains in the Semmozhi poonga, and one of them had a few Domestic ducks in them. What caught my attention was the group of local school kids feeding the ducks Khurkure.. I actually told one of them to not do, she retored saying "who are you to say?" and i replied "just someone who doesnt want to see the ducks die".. She was stumped and walked away with her friends giving me the LOOK... oh well... atleast the ducks were saved...

Project 365 Day 34 in Sync

“Life's a wheel of fortune and it's my chance to spin it”...

Wish it were that simple!

These Rims help the car move ahead smooth, going round and round, up on the bumps, and managing to ride over the rugged paths, sliding on water and halting when brakes are pulled... Life too i feel works on rims called our mind and circumstances, taking us where it does, protecting us against harsh wind, helping us forge ahead against hurdles...

Project 365 Day 33 Step it up

Up we go, down we go
We climb over obstacles
and we at times, jump over hurdles
We go down difficult times
and we at times, even slide down what looks like a smooth path

These steps reminded me of life, and of how we keep fighting everyday to battle the highs and lows.
Taken at the War Memorial, Chennai, the steps lead up to a pillar that is a monument in memory of those who gave their lives in war...

Project 365 Day 32 Time

As I wandered the beautiful corridor at Ekambareshwar temple in Kancheepuram, I spotted quite a few sculptures which were being given a new coat, a new lease of life. Even though this was something to be happy about, i saw that some were losing their identity and originality.

Skywatch Friday Project 365 Day 32- The Perspective

Its Friday already, and as the days and weeks have been, i keep wondering where the days are flying by, where time is whizzing off to... Woke up fresh and chirpy, and decided to do Skywatch Friday today....

On the visit to Semmozhi Poonga in Chennai last sunday with friends, was watching the sky change colours as the evening wore on, and realised, we all look at life the same way.. Each one with their own perspective....

For more beautiful skies, visit Skywatch Friday..

Project 365 Day 30 Write to me, wont you

I love writing Letters, sending Greeting cards... Not only that but my postal cards and letters will have stickers, perfume, colour and be lively. I dont know where i got this trait from, probably my uncles - Still remember how they used to send me postcards from wherever they had gone, and i still have most of them. Even today, my uncle in USA sends New year greeting cards to all of us!

I love visiting the post office, picking up stamp, spending a few minutes analysing the stamp, struggling with my gluestick, wallet, phone, and what not as i seal the envelope and drop it in the box...

This is a post box that stood outside Hotel Dasaprakash on PH Road.. Wonder if it is still there..

I wonder how many people write, send each other notes. I was talking to a friend of mine who's sending a parcel to a loved one who is now across the ocean, and she mentioned that the person carrying it insisted on her sending a note along with it. :-) Teased my friend for being a silly non romantic for wanting to put a post it on the parcel, but she instead said - Nyaah, it was cos i was sending through someone that i dint attach a note...

Project 365 Day 29 Snap

In Pulicat few days ago, we decided to do the boat ride in the Pulicat lake when we thought we spotted a gazillion Flamingos. There was a dead crab and this claw that hitched a ride with us...

The lake was very unique and that fascinated me no end.. The water near the shore was about 8feet deep, while as we went further into the lake, it became shallow, getting to a point where water was not more than a foot deep.. Infact, we had to convince the guys rowing that we were there only to see the birds and not for a joy ride. They were quite against getting anywhere near the Flamingos, not cos they thought the birds will get scared, but because the water was too shallow and the boat might get caught in the sand. One of the guys got off the boat, and literally pushed it all the way to about 5mts from the birds... And we are very thankful for what he did!
